the team might not be a work-oriented team, but it is one on a personal level with people who are collecting money for birthdays, people who marry and get presents, doing things outside the call center...people would go nuts if that wouldn't be done. And that is why it would be absolutely not done if you would state that there is no team.”
People want to form a team, people want to cooperate, share things and have a feeling of self-worth...we are productive and we are strong, but in the end, that is just an illusion.
I think it is being Dutch which connects us, you are abroad and there a number of them [colleagues] who came to Bremen because of their husband or wife...the team connects you to the roots where you were coming from, I think that creates a strong link. I have mourned after the Netherlands for ages, which is nonsense of course, but if you do not have any roots left, you will look for it. Through the call center you feel connected if you tell the customer that your are calling from Rotterdam.
we are a non-functional family, or something like that, we are people who got there [in the call center] because we can't do anything else for now. And then you realize: I have no other choice, so let's make the best of it and that goes best via the personal level.
There are Dutch people who can not associate with Germany, some way or the other...they experience migration problems, but they can't associate with the Netherlands anymore either, so they can not feel at home anywhere, that's why they want to form a team. If you live long enough in between borders it does not matter anymore where you are going, you don't have a home anymore. That is ok, but it makes you more lonely in the end. If you don't stay put, you will be alone at a certain point, even if you are married, that is why they are looking for a team.
